Thanks to perpetually globetrotting parents, Charlotte's wanderlust began at a young age, and her insatiable appetite for travel has taken her to all corners of the world. She has lived in the USA and Chile, where she spent a year living and studying in Santiago. She is fluent in Spanish, and has travelled the length and breadth of Latin America, from Costa Rica to Peru and Bolivia.

In Europe, Charlotte has taken in Russia's larger-than-life sights and stayed in the lap of luxury in Greece and Italy. Across Asia, she is a big fan of Cambodia and its islands, has a soft spot for Hong Kong's markets and traditional junk boats, and loves the epic scenery and wildlife of Sri Lanka. She has sandboarded down golden dunes in Oman. and has explored destinations as far-flung and diverse as Africa and Australia, meeting the Big Five on safari and relaxing on some of the world's most beautiful beaches.

My Top Tips

The salt flats (Salar de Uyuni) in Bolivia are simply stunning. The best time to visit for the amazing reflections is from January to April.

The historic part of Lisbon is well worth exploring - eat a pastel de nata in Belem from the first shop in Portugal to sell them, and further afield, visit the fortress of Sintra - it's like a magical kingdom up in the clouds!

After a day's sightseeing in Moscow, head to the rooftop bar at the top of the Ritz-Carton hotel and have a signature Red Square cocktail while enjoying the best views in the city.

The buzz of Hong Kong is intoxicating, but escape it for a leisurely boat trip on a traditional junk boat, taking it in from a different and scenic viewpoint.

In Greece, I recommend staying at Myconian Utopia, as it has excellent facilities, stunning interiors and such a beautiful style - such as furniture made with handcrafted driftwood.

Sleep in a unique treehouse

I am always drawn to unique and unusual hotels, and these treehouse hotels are truly one of a kind, such as the futuristic Treehotel in the heart of Swedish Lapland. Here, you can spend the night in a glass cube or a galactic UFO (children will love this one) suspended in the trees, looking out over the treetops, the river and the starry skies.

Dive with whale sharks

I love diving, and seek out the best spots around the world. Diving with whale sharks in the Philippines is a definite highlight of my travels. The diverse marine life is amazing - I also saw tiny pygmy seahorses that are smaller than your hand and look like coral (a form of camouflage). There are some great dive sites, including shipwrecks to explore.
