Hotel Overview

Where

The trek starts at Cachora and leads to the Choquequirao ruins in the Apurimac Valley; before returning back to Cachora.

Camping around Choquequirao

You will camp for three nights on the trail to Choquequirao: first at Santa Rosa (2200m), then at a campsite close to Choquequirao (3050m) and finally Chiquiska (1800m).

Food and facilities

All your meals will be prepared for you by the chef, and there will be mules to carry the cooking and camping equipment, as well as up to 7kg of your personal items. There is a dining tent with tables and chairs and an oxygen bottle each to help with the altitude.

Activities on the Choquequirao Trail

On this trek your expert guide will tell you all about the flora and fauna of the Apurimac Valley, including bromeliads, orchids and bamboo; quetzals, toucans and hummingbirds, and of course the condors swooping overhead at Choquequirao. Once at the ruins you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the site, learning about the Incan culture and downfall. At night you can access the natural observation platform and stargaze, just as the Incas would have done all those centuries ago.
