Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The hotel is set in peaceful gardens overlooking the rolling vineyards of the Colchagua Valley wine region. In the background loom the impressive peaks of the Andes Mountains, the world’s longest mountain range.

Rooms at Las Majadas de Colchagua

The hacienda’s 20 guestrooms are arranged in neat rows overlooking the peaceful gardens, and have a simple, traditional design which reflects the property’s rich heritage while promising modern levels of comfort. Vintage design pieces, like battered old storage chests, give the décor a retro feel, but the property’s recent renovation is evident in the beautiful polished floors and the richly coloured rugs and textiles. Traditional ceramic jars and other folk artefacts decorate the rooms, while the photography adorning the walls celebrates the natural beauty of rural Chile.

Food & Drink

The hotel’s restaurant is an atmospheric place, with rich dark wood furnishings and candles dripping wax over ornate candelabra. The food is traditional yet suitably grand, with multi-course tasting menus on offer to help you experience the rich diversity of Chilean cuisine; classic dishes to try include hearty cazuela stew, choripan sausages, and fresh ceviche. Food is paired, of course, with fantastic wines from the Vina Birsquertt stable.

Facilities

There’s no shortage of places to relax at Las Majadas de Colchagua, with a games room where you can enjoy a game of pool, a lounge for cosying up in front of a fireplace with a good book, and several other comfy seating areas scattered around the property. The outdoor pool, surrounded by chairs and umbrellas, is the perfect place to cool off on those hot afternoons.

Activities at Las Majadas de Colchagua

It will come as no surprise to find that wine tasting will take up much of your time here, with superb vintages available to try from the prestigious Vina Birsquertt winery. A range of activities are on offer, from simple tastings to food-and-wine pairings in the country house. This area is also renowned as the home of the huaso – Chile’s answer to the cowboy – and you can learn about the region’s equine culture at the quaint horse cart museum.
