Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Puyuhuapi Lodge has a serene fjord on one side, thick forest on the other, and the Andes looming in the distance. The surrounding Queulat National Park is rich in bird and mammal life across its diverse landscapes.

Rooms at Puyuhuapi Lodge

The rooms at Puyuhuapi have an alpine lodge-style look, with wood-panelled walls, floors and ceilings, South American textiles on the walls and rattan furniture. All open onto private furnished terraces facing the fjord, with the mountains rising impressively beyond. In keeping with the hotel’s back-to-basics ethos, there are no TVs in the rooms and no internet connection - this really is a place to unwind and relax.

Food & drink

The hotel’s restaurant is a cosy, farmhouse-style wooden-beamed space, serving up classic, hearty Patagonian fare, with fresh crab, hake and salmon from the fjords, mountain vegetables, and lamb reared on nearby farms. Many vegetables and herbs are also grown in the hotel’s own greenhouse. Meals are often multi-course extravaganzas, where regional dishes are showcased alongside fine Chilean wines.

Facilities

The lodge’s location was chosen for the presence of natural hot springs, and the mineral-rich thermal waters are the centrepiece of the hotel’s spa. There are three outdoor thermal pools overlooking the fjord, as well as an indoor pool and waterfall showers. Treatments include marine algae wraps, hydrotherapy baths and massages.

Activities at Puyuhuapi Lodge

A wide variety of outdoor adventures and excursions are on offer to help you explore the wild beauty of Chilean Patagonia. Take a motorboat across the fjord to a stunning hanging glacier before a hike through the forest, or enjoy a scenic walk around the peaceful Tempanos Lagoon.

The forests, lakes and mountains of Queulat National Park are the setting for many of the adventures on offer here, and birdwatchers will be able to spot hummingbirds, woodpeckers and kingfishers, among a staggering diversity of avian life. The icy blue waters of the Patagonian fjords should also be high on your agenda, with kayaking and boat trips both options for exploring them.
