Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighbourhood is one of the city’s most iconic and affluent areas, and is home to grand railroad mansions and the vast Grace Cathedral. Chinatown, just to the east, is one of San Fran’s most vibrant and energetic districts. The Fairmont's location promises the best of both worlds, sitting right between the two.

Rooms at Fairmont San Francisco

The Fairmont’s guest rooms have a traditionally elegant, somewhat Art Deco feel, with floral carpets, grey walls and flock wallpaper in the bathrooms. They overlook either the hotel’s interior courtyard or the city of San Francisco, with Signature Rooms boasting sweeping views over San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz to Coit Tower. All the rooms and suites feature state-of-the-art amenities, such as flatscreen TVs, sound systems and Keurig coffee machines.

For something a little different, treat yourself to one of the aptly named One-of-a-Kind Suites. As the name suggests, these each have a unique character. The Fairmont Presidential Suite features a huge, spa-like bathroom with an infinity bathtub overlooking the city, while the Diplomat Tony Bennett Suite – named after the famous singer – has incredible views over the Golden Gate Bridge and the city’s skyline beyond.

Food & Drink

The Fairmont offers no shortage of eating and drinking options to suit all tastes. The Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar is a stately, colonnaded space, where you’ll find traditional Californian coastal cuisine – head there for breakfast, and try the pancake stack.

On a completely different note, the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar serves Polynesian fusion cuisine and an extensive drinks menu, and has been an iconic San Francisco institution since 1945. For something a little quieter, Caffe Cento has the feel of a Parisian café and serves coffee, chocolates, breakfast and lunch.

Facilities

The hotel’s fitness centre is fully equipped with cardio and weights equipment to help you keep on top of your workout, while a chiropractor and acupuncturist are on-site to help soothe those aching muscles. At the spa, meanwhile, a range of massage treatments are on offer, and there's also a sauna and steam room.

Activities at Fairmont San Francisco

The Fairmont sits in San Francisco’s wealthy Nob Hill district, at the only point where the city’s iconic cable cars meet. Riding the cars is a tourist activity in its own right, but it is also a great way to get between the city’s many iconic sights. Any tour of San Francisco should take in the stunning Golden Gate Bridge, the bustling Fisherman’s Wharf and the bohemian North Beach neighbourhood, one-time home to the Beats, an iconic group of authors - Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady and co - who are synonymous with the city.

Return to the hotel to relax in the rooftop garden, a green oasis of fountains and palm trees in the heart of the city, with panoramic views.
