5 nightsMANITOBA (CHURCHILL)

Leaving the city behind, you’ll fly north and soar over Hudson Bay as you come into land in Churchill, on the rim of Arctic Canada, from where you will take another short and scenic flight up to the coast, where you will be based for the next five nights. This region is one of the globe’s only locations for sighting polar bears in the wild, and you will be staying in their prime stomping ground at the family-run Seal River Heritage Lodge. Seal River is a favourite summer hangout spot for these colossal animals while they wait for the sea ice to return in autumn.

Your accommodation is ideally located outside of town and offers a homely atmosphere plus unrivalled opportunities for wildlife viewing at close proximity: the panoramic windows frequently showcase curious polar bears approaching the lodge and frolicking by the water’s edge.

Together with your highly-skilled guide, take walks out to discover the vastness of the area and photograph the flora and fauna and enjoy some birdwatching - over 150 species frequent the region. When polar bears are sighted, a safe viewing distance will be kept at all times. Marine tours by boat will introduce you to the area’s other VIP residents, giant pods of playful beluga whales - thousands congregate here each summer.

Back on land, tour the coastline in search of wildlife including red and Arctic foxes, wolves and moose, and enjoy a picnic lunch en route. After dark, keep an eye on the sky for the stunning Northern Lights, especially during the latter part of summer on a clear, starry evening.
