Deserts, Mountains and Island Escapes

The beautiful Hajjar Mountains gaze down over the Chedi Muscat, a peaceful oasis of luxury and calm lying on the beautiful Omani coastline – and this is where your journey into Oman begins. Having explored Muscat, you’ll take to the waves to discover Oman’s offshore treasures. In Mussanah Marina, you’ll board a luxury yacht and set sail to the beautiful islands of Sawadi. With crystal clear waters, these perfect little hideaways are wonderful for a peaceful dip beneath the Omani sun. As the day nears its end, you’ll anchor at the picture-perfect Damaniyat Islands, where you’ll spend the night aboard your yacht. End the day wandering the white sand beaches and secluded bays of the inhabited islets, or grab a snorkel and explore the vibrant coral reefs buzzing with tropical fish, rays and turtles.

The following morning, you’ll set sail on a day-long journey that will take you to the souks of Seeb Harbour, past the grandiose Royal Palace and on to Bandar Khiran, a stunning fjord that is home to some fantastic coral reefs. Anchor in your choice off one of the many idyllic little coves and, as the sun sets on your island interlude, enjoy an evening barbeque on an untouched beach.

Back on the mainland, you’ll be picked up by your private guide and will venture high up into the mountains, exploring the old settlement at Mizfa, the curious deserted village of Birkat Al Mawz and the ancient ruins of Tanuf along the way. You’ll welcome in the Arabian night at a luxury private mountain camp gazing over the magical surrounding landscape.

Starting bright and early, you’ll be taken to the fascinating camel markets of Nizwa before heading on to the forts of Jabrin and Bahla and the ancient ruins at Sinew. You’ll then venture into the vast Wahiba Sands desert, where you’ll be taken on a pulsating desert safari, exploring the rolling sand dunes by 4x4. Once all your adrenaline has been well and truly pumped, you’ll be taken to your luxury desert camp in good time for the ‘jewel of the desert’ - the beautiful sunset. A group of local musicians will play the night away beneath the starlit sky, providing the perfect soundtrack to a night in the desert.

The following day you’ll be taken back to Muscat, where your Omani odyssey will come to an end with one more luxurious night at the Chedi.
