Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Nestled on the border of the world-renowned Ranthambhore National Park in northern India.

Rooms at Sher Bagh

Reminiscent of the shikar camps, each air-conditioned tent is pitched under a canopy of cooling indigenous trees and furnished with 19th century ‘Campaign Style’ furniture. The tented rooms have white cotton canvas walls, which are dramatically offset by the original rosewood and teak four-poster beds, vanity table and luggage bench.

Though the tents are perfectly grand in every way, if you want your own private walled-in garden with Jacuzzi and a personal butler, splash out either for the Royal Burra Sahib or Pukka Sahib Suite.

Food and drink

The Anglo-Indian and European inspired breakfast and lunch menus are crafted from handpicked ingredients taken from the organic herb and vegetable garden at the Sher Bagh Farm. In the evening, you can enjoy a drink around the fireplace gazing at the stars before following the lantern-lit walkways to your table to tuck into traditional Indian dinners, such as spicy mutton, black lentil daal and naan cooked on outdoor clay ovens.

Facilities

In the heat of the day, head to the clump of ancient peepal trees to find the Sujan Spa. Indulge in an Ayurvedic massage before wallowing in the swimming pool or simply resting on your veranda watching the active birdlife fly by.

Activities at Sher Bagh

Go on a spice trail, exploring the dusty town of Sawai Madhopur and observing the local trading culture and traditions before visiting the neighbourhood handicraft centre, or join the chefs in the jungle for an outdoor cooking session.

Whether you're a twitcher, photographer or walker, there are plenty of programmes and opportunities for all, but what is a must is a game drive through Ranthambore National Park, the finest habitat in the world to watch tigers in the wild. Not just tigers either: you’ll also be able to see jackals, mongoose, sloth bears, leopards and many more animals roaming through the forest.
