Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Kanha National Park is one of the largest and best-maintained of India’s national parks and is located in the spectacular Maikal Hills, surrounded by verdant forests of sal and bamboo. The camp#s staff of highly trained naturalists will ensure that your stay is safe and comfortable yet educational and exhilarating.

Rooms at Banjaar Tola

Banjaar Tola’s 18 luxurious tents take glamping to a whole new level, with the canvas roofs covering polished wooden floors, stylish furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can gaze out over the river and the forest. Walls and lines are rough-hewn, reflecting the camp’s rustic surroundings, but luxurious touches are added with the use of materials like marble and leather. Each ten features glass doors lading out onto a spacious floating veranda.

Food and drink

Breakfast can be served either at the camp or while you’re out on a morning game drive, and consists of traditional Indian specialities like kati (stuffed rolls), pao bhajis, and spicy raj kachoris. Lunch takes the form of a sumptuous spread of salads, lentils, vegetables and meat dishes, served either on a shaded deck overlooking the pool, on your own private veranda, or in the privacy of your tented suite. A lantern-lit traditional dinner in the heart of the sal forest, accompanied by traditional music and dance, is an impossibly atmospheric affair, with food often taking the form of a delicious thali platter.

Facilities

The tented communal guest area is home to a beautiful large outdoor swimming pool, a library, and a Safari Shop where you can pick up a souvenir of your trip. A range of invigorating Jiva Spa therapies are available, with treatments administered on private massage decks, and in-room gym equipment is also available.

Activities at Banjaar Tola

Expert-led game drives in 4x4s depart daily from the camp, allowing you to experience the rich biodiversity of Kanha National Park. Kanha was one of 9 parks chosen in 1973 to spearhead the Project Tiger initiative and is deemed the movement’s standout success story. Other animals you can hope to spot include leopard, sloth bear and Indian wild dog, and the park is also home to more than 200 recorded bird species. The lodge is committed to conservation, not just of the natural environment but also of local communities, and the price of your stay will contribute to initiatives which support the lives of local people.
