Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Occupying a gorgeous position on a sandy peninsula in the tranquil and beautiful Trou d’Eau Douce Bay on the east coast of Mauritius, Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort & Spa is sheltered from the gentle trade winds of the Indian Ocean.

Rooms at Shangri-La Le Touessrock Resort & Spa

Le Touessrok has beautifully designed and presented rooms based on a ‘rustic chic’ style, which are set amidst tropical gardens and overlook the ocean. Deluxe rooms, Junior and Ocean Suites, Villas and the premium Shangri-La Suite spread from the mainland to a separate island, reached by a short bridge. All rooms and suites are sea-facing. Beach Access Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites let you step straight out onto the sand.

The rooms themselves are spacious and elegant and have huge bathrooms with signature egg-shaped baths. Mango wood, marble floors and custom-made furniture complete the look while 24-hour butler service means you needn't lift a finger. They also have private terraces. Extra beds can be added in some for young children.

Most exclusive of all are the luxurious Beach Villas, with private beach access, swimming pools, and your own butler.

Food & Drink

There are contemporary dining options available at several varied restaurants: Le Bazar is the resort's feature restaurant and includes open show kitchens that serve international fare and dishes from countries around the world. Kushi is a signature Japanese concept restaurant serving teppanyaki, tempura and sushi, as well as wagyu beef, and offers a memorable yakinuki experience, involving a built-in grill at your own table. Safran, run by a celebrated Indian chef, produces classical Indian cuisine and is thought to be the best of its kind on the island; and Republik has a much more laidback beach club feel.

There are also two lunchtime restaurants across the water on Ile aux Cerfs. Elsewhere in the resort, head to the iconic Sega Bar for gourmet rum tasting and Tiki cocktails, where you can enjoy the sounds of reggae, seggae, jazz and blues, or simply relax on the beach and enjoy exemplary service from staff on Segways who ferry drinks to you. Evening entertainment takes place at Mauritian-style nightspot Republik Beach Club.

Facilities

The resort has two swimming pools, including an adult-only option. For pampering, the fantastic spa offers hot stone massages and a coco massage with fresh coconut, and much more. There are also excellent facilities for families and children, with entertainment for everyone from toddlers to teenagers. There’s a kids club, the T-Club, available from 9am-10pm, providing wraparound care for children from 4-12 years old, meaning parents can have a relaxing evening. There’s a separate club for teenagers from 12-17. Chefs can prepare fresh food and tasty meals for children.

Activities at Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort & Spa

If you can tear yourself away from the four white sand beaches, held to be some of the finest on the island, there is a wide array of activities and sports available with things to do both on land and at sea. There are floodlit tennis courts and expert coaching available, a jogging track, volleyball, badminton, aqua-gym lessons and Bocce ball.

There's also an 18-hole championship golf course on the private Ile aux Cerfs, designed by Bernhard Langer, which is challenging enough for advanced players as well as more enthusiastic recreational golfers - guests get complimentary green fees.

Guests are also entitled to exclusive access to Ilot Mangenie via the resort's shuttle boat, for an alternative beach experience on the resort’s wonderfully secluded private island. In the warm Indian Ocean you can also try diving, snorkelling, sailing, water skiing and wind surfing. Take a trip on a glass-bottom boat or catamaran to drift over the waves or go deep sea fishing.
