Taking the train from Florence to Rome, you’ll arrive and stay at the lush Appia Antica Resort, set in the world’s largest archaeological park, where you can watch the colourful Koi carp swim in the hotel’s Japanese garden, walk through the Zen bamboo and stone garden or take part in the hotel’s Italian cookery class.
