Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sitting right beside the stunning Great Geysir and near the Strokkur geyser, which is perhaps Iceland’s most recognisable symbol – Hotel Geysir is perfectly placed for exploring the raw power and beauty of the Land of Ice and Fire.

Rooms at Hotel Geysir

Hotel Geysir combines a hip contemporary design with the use of organic wood and stone, meaning it blends in seamlessly with the natural beauty all around. Through large windows you can take in the stunning views of the wilderness: for the ultimate immersion in nature, choose a room with a panoramic balcony.

Food & Drink

The Geysir restaurant serves up superb Icelandic and international cuisine, with delicious seafood such as fennel-cured salmon and herring on offer alongside classic local meat dishes like thyme-roasted lamb with juniper berries. Some of the unique dishes on offer include minke whale carpaccio and Icelandic barley risotto, while international options include Middle Eastern chicken and naan bread.

For a special occasion, we recommend private dining as you will have access to the rooftop terrace which has an incredible 360-degree panorama of the surroundings and a herb garden.

Facilities

The hotel makes the most of an area that's so geothermally active, and the pool, fed with natural thermal waters, is a lovely spot to warm up on a cold evening, perhaps even to the spectacular accompaniment of nature’s greatest light show, the Northern Lights. There are also several hot tubs around the pool where you can rest your tired muscles after a day’s outdoor adventures.

Activities at Hotel Geysir

The headline attraction here, and arguably in all of Iceland, is right on your doorstep: the Great Geysir. One of the world’s most famous geysers, this natural marvel is not so active as it once was, but nearby Strokkur shoots water 100 feet into the air every few minutes. Other adventures include swimming in natural hot springs, horse riding, forest hikes and river rafting, while you can enjoy a tour of the Langjokull glacier and the stunning Gullfoss is just one of the many beautiful waterfalls nearby.
