2 nightsATHENS

Your luxury honeymoon begins in Athens, the cradle of democracy and one of the world’s oldest cities. The historical treasures to be found here are famous the world over, with the Parthenon, the Acropolis and the remarkably well-preserved Temple of Hephaestus among them. Your home for two nights is Athenswas, a stylish hotel hewn from Greek marble and walnut and boasting incredible views of the Acropolis from its rooftop restaurant. Its central location makes it perfect for exploring not only the Acropolis but numerous other archaeological attractions such as the National Archaeological Museum – one of the finest museums anywhere in the world.

For a romantic half-day’s excursion, head to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, on the coastal tip of the Attica region. These clifftop ruins are a beautiful place to watch the sun go down over the Aegean Sea.

3 nightsMYKONOS

After two nights in Athens, you’ll fly to Mykonos to begin the island-hopping leg of your honeymoon. Favoured as a vacation spot by celebrities for its lively nightlife and fashionable boutiques, your hotel, Kirini My Mykonos, encapsulates the spirit of the island perfectly: this chic, tastefully decorated hideaway will ensure your stay on Mykonos is as comfortable and romantic as possible.

The south coast of the island, where Kirini sits, is blessed with an abundance of golden beaches such as Platis Gialos, as well as numerous quieter bays and coves. Many of these offer ample opportunities for water sports, or simply for sunbathing and relaxing as you see fit. If you’re after a little cultural stimulation, the town of Mykonos has an archaeological museum, a maritime museum and a museum dedicated to local folklore, as well as Lena’s House: a restored and fully furnished merchant home from the turn of the 20th century.

5 nightsSANTORINI

After three nights on Mykonos, you’ll board a hydrofoil to Santorini, the last stop on your Greek honeymoon and an impossibly romantic place to end your vacation. With its pristine white houses and blue-domed churches clinging to multi-coloured volcanic cliffs, this island is renowned for its scenery and the beauty of its sunsets, which are often described as among the finest in the world.

The island is just a baby in geographical terms – formed somewhere around 1450 BC by a huge volcanic eruption – but it’s a perfect example of traditional Greek island life, and its rolling vineyards produce some of the country’s finest wine. The white, red and black sand beaches are beautiful, while the Minoan ruins of Akrotiri, destroyed and preserved by a volcanic eruption in the 17th century BC, is Greece’s answer to Pompeii.

You’ll spend five nights at Katikies, an elegant and luxurious hotel in the town of Oia, with no fewer than two infinity pools from which you can gaze over the Aegean Sea.
