Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Hotel Europa is set atop Drouvas Hill in ancient Olympia, commanding views of the Alpheus Valley. The ruins where the original Olympic Games were held in ancient Greece are just a short stroll away.

Rooms at Hotel Europa

Rooms are light and airy with views of the Alpheus Valley from private balconies. If you’re taking the tribe, opt for one of the family rooms or the suites which are interconnecting. There’s also the loft apartment with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a fireplace for the cooler months and a large balcony.

Food and drink

Start the day with a buffet breakfast of homemade Greek specialties, like tiropitta or spanokopitta, as well as sweet pastries and jams, honey and local yoghurt. Take lunch or dinner in the restaurant, or better yet in the outdoor Greek tavern, surrounded by lush gardens. Admire views of the setting sun and the Ionian Sea beyond the mountains as you savour local delicacies from this al fresco spot. Indoors, you’ll find two bars and a TV lounge.

Facilities

Take a dip in the large, inviting pool to cool off from a day exploring Olympia. It’s lined with sun loungers and leafy trees which provide welcoming shade in the summer months.

Activities at Hotel Europa

There’s no coming to Hotel Europa without visiting the fascinating archaeological site of Olympia, dating back to the 8th century BC. Marvel at ruins of athletic training grounds, the stadium and temples dedicated to Hera and Zeus. There’s also the Archaeological Museum of Olympia which showcases some fantastic antiquities, including a statue of Hermes by Praxiteles. On top of the ruins the area holds bountiful riches, such as monuments from the Greek War of Independence in 1821, churches, monasteries and picturesque villages. Head out to discover the Alpheus River and Nemouta waterfalls, or go for a swim at Kato Samiko beach or the thermal springs of Kaiafas. Active types should try rafting, kayaking, biking or trekking Olympia’s slopes – you can even ski at Mount Helmos in winter!
