Hotel Goldgasse

Location: Salzburg | Austria

Though it has served as a coppersmith’s since 1573, the Hotel Goldgasse has a refreshingly modern interior that has taken the city’s famous festival as its muse. Styled in a contemporary manor with walls doubling as giant canvases honouring festival operas, this hotel is a celebration of dramatic modern art in a historic old town.
Perfect forOpera buffs and couples wanting something a little quirky.
In the knowTo really see what the city can do, book early and visit Salzburg in July or August, so you can witness the show-stopping, heart-pounding annual music and drama festival.

Hotel Overview

Where

In a neighbourhood where charming cafes and fragrant bakeries mingle with small arts and crafts shops- within walking distance of the Hohensalzburg Fortress and Mozart’s birthplace.

Rooms at Hotel Goldgasse

The 15 bedrooms and one suite are odes to the great operas of the festival, fitted with Salzburg oak, porcelain tiles, old restored frescoes and handmade amenities by a local company, Maria Pieper. In order to experience the hidden rooftop in the hotel, book the exclusive suite, Jedermann, for breathtaking views of the historic street from the bathtub and the terrace- the perfect antidote to a long day of sightseeing.

Food and facilities

Dining in the Gasthof Goldgasse is a traditionally Austrian affair. Using seasonal and regional produce, only Austrian wines, and serving the meals in traditional copper pans, the restaurant plates up delicious takes on the country’s classic fare. Under the guiding hand of Chef Martin Pichler, the restaurant adds a cosy note to the food, so make sure to try the deep fried chicken with potato and cucumber salad, the smoked whitefish on a stick with potato and lemon cream, and, for dessert, the Salzburger Nockerl with raspberry cream.

Activities at Hotel Goldgasse

In a hotel that breathes music, why not explore the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Leaving Salzburg after disagreements with the archbishop, Mozart not only left us legendary operas but also left behind his residence in Makart Square, which is now open to visitors.
