Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Set in a beautiful estate on the edge of the Barossa Valley wine country, Kingsford Homestead combines rural seclusion with easy access to some of South Australia’s finest restaurants and wineries.

Rooms at Kingsford Homestead

Kingsford’s 7 luxurious suites are split between the main homestead, with 5 on the upper storey and 1 on the ground floor, and the adjacent Stonemason’s Cottage. Each is named for a prominent individual connected to the estate: the Stephen King suite, named not for an American horror author but the pastoralist who built the estate, is the largest and has a balcony overlooking the Gothic porch. The John Angas Suite has beautiful views over giant gum trees and rolling hills in the background, while the stunning Stonemason’s Cottage retains its historic charm with low ceilings, exposed beams and a private walled garden.

Food and drink

In keeping with the rest of the hotel, Kingsford Homestead’s dining room is elegant and traditional, with beautiful views overlooking the rolling hills. A hearty Barossa breakfast is served every morning, with fresh and cooked options both available – the perfect way to start a day exploring the surrounding countryside and wine country. In the evening, drinks and canapés are served on the veranda – a great opportunity to sample a handpicked selection of the region’s famous wines. Tastings are also often held in the cellar.

Facilities

Kingsford’s outdoor bush bath is one of its signature features, and a romantic spot to relax in a private, secluded corner of the property. Wellness treatments from the extensive spa menu can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own suite. The hotel has a cosy lounge and library, where you can curl up with a book on one of the large, comfy sofas; the outdoor pool is another beautiful spot to relax and unwind after a day’s exploring in Barossa Valley. Children over the age of 13 are welcome in their own room.

Activities at Kingsford Homestead

Kingsford Homestead is within easy reach of the Barossa Valley, with famous wineries such as Peter Lehmann, Rockford, Penfolds and Yalumba a 10-minute drive away from the property. The wineries of Clare Valley are about 30 minutes to the north. Wine tastings are also regularly held in the hotel’s own cellar. This area around the hotel is very scenic and ripe for exploring on foot: wildlife lovers will have the chance to spot kookaburras, parrots and wedge-tailed eagles, as well as kangaroos on the banks of the North Para River. Hot air ballooning and gliding are two beautiful ways to get a bird’s-eye-view of the rolling vineyards.
