Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Lizard Island is the most northerly resort on the Great Barrier Reef, guaranteeing privacy and seclusion as well as spectacular views.

Rooms at Lizard Island

There are 40 luxurious suites and villas, with floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces looking out over the gardens, the beach and the ocean, and a fresh neutral colour scheme of whites and blues. The beachfront suites are set on the bay, with a private pathway leading directly to the beach, the oceanview villas have premium sea views while the gardenview rooms are set in the tropical gardens. The Pavilion offers panoramic views over Anchor Bay from its wraparound deck, or for an extra-special experience, opt for the secluded two-bedroom Villa, perched on the hillside, with its own pool.

Food & Drink

Dining is one of Lizard Island's many pleasures, and the attractive Salt Water restaurant embodies the resort's understated elegance. The menu, which changes daily, is fresh and creative, showcasing the finest local produce and freshest seafood. Enjoy a sunset dinner on the bay or sample the extensive wine list in the Driftwood bar while taking in the views, or tuck into a wood-fired pizza at the Marlin bar.

Facilities

The tempting spa offers a range of treatments inspired by nature to nurture mind, body and spirit, and you can wake up with a morning yoga session on the beach.

Activities at Lizard Island Resort

As well as snorkelling straight off the beach with colourful fish, you can enjoy boat trips out to various spectacular dive sites such as the Cod Hole. The island is a designated national park, and there are numerous trails and guided interpretative walks on offer, with the option to visit the Research Station.

Depending on the time of year you stay, there is an array of wildlife activity to discover - from humpback whale sightings in June and July, to migratory seabirds and monitor lizards (from which the island gets its name), with the coral reef's annual spawning in November.
