Sense of place

Located just outside of My Tho city, the lodge sits on the Island of the Unicorn, the largest of the four islands in the Tien River. Here you’ll find shady trails winding through fruit trees and horse and carriages ambling along the paths.

Rooms at The Island Lodge

Eight Mekong River View rooms have an enviable position overlooking the island’s fruit tree canopy, while four larger Pavilions Garden View rooms are spread across two pavilions and named after the two explorers who discovered the Mekong River in the 1800s, Francis Garnier and Ernest Doudart de Lagrée. Every room has a private terrace and a unique hand painted artwork by a young painter from Saigon.

Food & drink

The lodge’s main restaurant, Le Comptpoir de Marthe et Edouard, is a French-inspired brasserie that pays tribute to owner Michel’s grandparents, who resided in Hon Bay during the French presence. Here you’re treated to French and Vietnamese fusion food, as well as dishes typical to the Mekong Delta, for those wanting a more authentic culinary experience. La Manufacture D’opium lounge will satisfy any needs for a daytime caffeine hit, while Bar 10 ° 19’44 ” offers an evening tipple in beautiful tropical surroundings.

The lodge’s gorgeous pool looks directly out over the Mekong, with loungers for soaking up the sunshine and peaceful garden surroundings providing absolute tranquility. Rejuvenate with a massage using all natural ingredients at La Cochinchine, or relax with a soak in the Jacuzzi or sauna.

Activities at The Island Lodge

Navigate the leafy waterways of the Mekong by boat, passing small, traditional vessels carrying fruits, fish and other goods to be taken to market. Explore the other three My Tho islands: Dragon, Phoenix and Turtle Island, or stay on dry land and head out on a mountain bike, motorbike or horse and carriage ride to discover the hidden trails and sights of Unicorn Island.

Hotel location

The Island Lodge is situated in the far west of Unicorn island in My Tho. A private transfer service collects from Saigon airport, which is approximately a 75-minute drive from the lodge.
