Where else can you enjoy a sedate afternoon tea – complete with a strawberry-topped scone – before trekking through wild Malaysian forests? Surrounded by colonial influences from the days of Empire, and set amidst the rolling hills of a tea plantation, the Cameron Highlands Resort is a wonderfully grand and totally unique place to stay.
Perfect forTreks and tradition for families, couples, and honeymooners.
In the knowOn Easter Sunday in 1967, the American tycoon Jim Thompson – once involved with the CIA, and credited with the revival of the Thai silk industry – went for an afternoon walk in the Cameron Highlands and was never seen again. Some believe he was kidnapped in relation to his work as a spy, whilst others fear he was eaten by a tiger: either way, it remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in Asia.

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Cameron Highlands Resort is set amidst lush jungle and rolling hills in the state of Pahang.

Rooms at Cameron Highlands Resort

Plantation shutters, timber-beamed ceilings, and bespoke teak furniture create a marvellously nostalgic feel. In the elegant rooms, you can lie back on your four-poster bed and enjoy views of the golf course, the strawberry-scattered hills and the lush green forest. As for families, the connecting two-bedroom suites are ideal.

Food & Drink

Empire builders would definitely have approved of the cuisine here, which combines traditional English comfort food with exciting Malaysian dishes. As well as a cosy tea room, where you can enjoy plantation-grown tea and freshly-baked scones, there’s also a fantastic restaurant serving hearty breakfasts and candlelit dinners featuring both Asian and Western specialities, alongside exceptional views, and a bar where you can choose from an impressive selection of whiskies and cocktails.

Facilities

After a day's adventures outdoors, the best way to relax is with a lovely tea soak in the spa, whose treatments utilise the therapeutic properties of natural local ingredients.

Activities at Cameron Highlands Resort

Tea lover or otherwise, a visit to the surrounding tea plantation is a must – not just to sample the perfect cuppa, but for the history and spectacular views across the undulating hills. The cultivated landscape is also abundant with strawberries (there’s nothing better than plucking one straight off the bush, and sampling it with a dollop of cream), as well as traditional English rose gardens.

However, it’s when you venture into the forest that things start to get really interesting. There are number of trails to follow, as well as more strenuous hikes, and along the way you can see enchanting waterfalls and indigenous villages. For more culture, and great hand-crafted souvenirs, head to the Pasar Malam night market.
