The 59 deluxe rooms, villas and cottages are scattered around the six acres of beach and tropical gardens. The elegant and spacious surroundings showcase local woods, stone carvings, marble and traditional artworks, alongside picture windows framing the views, sun roofs in the bathrooms and lots of other little quirky touches, all designed to be in harmony with the natural environment. Verandas open out onto the beach and the aquamarine waters of the Bay of Bengal. You won’t have to jostle for the best spot on the beach – sun beds and beach umbrellas are assigned to each room.

The Sandoway’s restaurant and lounge bar are on a spacious terrace overlooking the beach - a perfect spot for a cocktail at sunset before enjoying some delicious fresh seafood (caught by fishermen that morning) at the Asian and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. As well as the stunning sunsets, the starry night skies are pretty impressive after the sun goes down - pick a prime vantage point on the 3km-long pristine beach. After sunset, the sea is lit by the lanterns of fishing boats.

Chill out with a good book in the ocean-view library, play golf on the rustic nine-hole course, make the most of the large swimming pool or treat yourself in the spa, surrounded by tropical ponds and waterfalls.

Rent a bicycle to explore the scenic surroundings, visit charming local villages, colourful markets and historic pagodas, take a fishing boat out for the day and discover the coast or the Thandwe River, and go snorkelling.
