Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Morukuru Beach Lodge sits on an untouched stretch of rugged coastline in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, a beautiful region of sand dunes, sea and vegetation-covered cliffs. Remote from civilisation, this is a peaceful part of the world, where clear, unpolluted night skies make for fantastic stargazing.

Rooms at Morukuru Beach Lodge

There are just five rooms and suites at the lodge, ensuring you’ll enjoy a peaceful stay. The four Ocean View Suites look out over the Indian Ocean, and the Honeymoon Suite, which comes with a large deck with an outdoor bath and sunloungers, overlooks the dramatic fynbos dune landscapes and the sea.

The rooms are colourful and spacious, and feature underfloor heating for those chilly nights - this is heated by solar power, as is the water in the bathrooms, which have walk-in rainshowers. Relax on the daybed by your large bay window and enjoy the panoramic views.

Food & Drink

The food is world-class across the Morukuru hotels, and the Beach Lodge is no exception. The menu is international and changes constantly, and consultation with the chef is always possible to ensure a personalised dining experience. This being South Africa, a fine selection of wine is also on offer, both in the restaurant and the well-stocked bar. Packed lunches and picnics can be prepared to take out with you on your adventures: have lunch on a secluded beach or in the dunes.

Facilities

With an outdoor pool and patio, as well as a rooftop terrace for sundowners, there are plenty of areas to relax in after a day's adventures. Inside, there's a cosy library, where you can curl up with a good book on chilly evenings.

Activities at Morukuru Beach Lodge

As well as whale watching, guided nature walks and drives are also on offer through the fynbos shrubland - a great way to get to know the area’s landscapes and the wildlife that inhabit them, such as the Cape Mountain zebra. A nearby vulture colony is the endpoint for a rewarding hike. If you’re feeling adventurous, go sandboarding on the dunes, which are also the perfect spot for a sundowner overlooking the sea.
