Hotel Overview

sense of place

With otherworldly granite rock formations and the sweeping sand dunes of the Namib Desert as far as the eye can see, Boulders Safari Camp doesn’t want for a picturesque setting. The camp combines a remote location with luxurious accommodation and impeccable service.

rooms at Boulders Safari Camp

Sleeping a maximum of just 8 guests in 4 beautiful safari tents, Boulders promises an intimate and exclusive experience in the NamibRand. The tents have an Old World, colonial feel, decorated with unique design pieces like vintage gramophones and antique wooden chests. The bedrooms open out onto private veranda areas, combining luxury and privacy with a complete immersion in the great outdoors.

food & drink

Dining at Boulders promises to be an unforgettable experience, with first-class service and cuisine in an outdoor desert setting. To add to the sense of theatre, menu options are announced to you in the local Nama language. The food draws on bush traditions, using homegrown, organic produce, and is paired with the finest local and South African wines.

facilities

Despite the camp’s remote location, wellness treatments are available courtesy of an expert therapist, who specialises in Swedish massage, marula oil massage, Indian head massage and foot massage. A massage in the serene expanse of the Namib desert is an unforgettable experience, and the perfect way to wind down after a day’s outdoor adventures. Boulders is a family-friendly camp, and children of school age and above are welcome.

activities at Boulders Safari Camp

Needless to say, exploration of the Namib Desert is the order of the day here. A scenic morning, afternoon or sundowner drive will take you into the dunes, passing through lunar landscapes with strange rock formations and hardy plants, like the bizarre welwitschia, which have adapted to the harsh conditions of the desert. A walking safari is a great way to get to know the desert up close, stopping en route for a picnic amid ancient camel-thorn trees. Above ground, a hot-air balloon ride is an unforgettable way to take in the sunrise before a champagne breakfast, while a flight in a light aircraft is a similarly scenic experience. Animals which live in this area include oryx, leopard, zebra and giraffe, among many others.
