The most glamorous additions to the tourist scene in Mozambique are the islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago. These are accessed from Pemba on the mainland, but whilst you’re there the unspoilt North Coast beaches are definitely worth a visit (check out Londo Lodge and you’ll soon see what we mean!)
Yet more pristine beaches greet you on the 27 islands of the Quirimbas along with historic fortified towns, and wonderfully friendly locals. The real treat though is when you’re drifting from island to island: lying back in a creaking dhow, fishing-line trailing in the crystal waters, and feeling like you’re a million miles from the rest of the world.
