Riding safaris are an increasingly popular way of exploring the African bush; the excitement of following the wildlife and riding through some of Africa's most spectacular landscape is infectious.
Whether you want to ride out for an hour or spend each day of your safari on horseback, Exsus can arrange riding safaris for riders of all abilities, and can recommend camps such as Ants Hill and Ants Nest in South Africa which are perfect for riders of varying experience. Malaria free, Ants Hill and Ants Nest also work particularly well for families.
Many of the private conservancies in Kenya, like Borana, Lewa Safari Camp and Ol Donyo Lodge can offer riding as part of a broad range of daily activities, as does Sasakwa Lodge at Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania. These are really worth considering if you’re part of a mixed group with differing interests: riders can gallop off into the sunset, while non-riders can snooze beside the pool or head off on a game drive.
If the saddle is your second home, there’s really only one option: a multi day riding safari, heading from camp to camp through the savannah. Cantering alongside a tower of giraffes, or zooming alongside zebras is an experience that's hard to beat. Offbeat Riding Safaris in Kenya and Okavango Horse Safaris in Botswana are two of our favourites, but we can also arrange longer rides in Tanzania and Zambia.
Finally, if riding in the bush isn’t enough, the fun needn’t stop there! We can arrange canters around the farm at Shiwa Ng'andu in Zambia, Polo at Kurland on South Africa's Garden Route and riding on the beach at Kinondo Kwetu on Kenya's beautiful coastline.
