When to go to Peru

Made up of coast, highland, and rainforest, Peru is a year-round destination but with conditions that vary according to altitude.

The Andean regions have a dry season from April to October, which is when most people visit the highlands and Machu Picchu. Outside this season it can rain in the morning or afternoon for a few hours at a time, but you’ll have the benefit of fewer crowds and beautiful orchids blooming on the highlands. Real Inca enthusiasts may also be interested in lunar and solar cycles in which the sun and moon line up with the meticulously-designed Incan structures.

The Amazon jungle is as you’d expect – hot, wet, and humid all year round, while if you want to slot in some beach time, the coastal desert regions will be hot, sunny and dry most of the year.
