Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The Peruvian Highlands itinerary travels between Cusco and Arequipa City with a stop in Lake Titicaca, and is a two-night journey.

The Spirit of Peru itinerary travels between Cusco and Puno and is an overnight journey.

Rooms aboard the Belmond Andean Explorer

Your deluxe cabin has a plush double bed and a cosy seating area with two chairs, as well as a private bathroom. A long wardrobe provides storage, while the inviting bathroom is equipped with a toilet, a shower and a washbasin.

Taking inspiration from Peru’s hand-woven fabrics and soft tones, such as alpaca wool and Andean slate greys, the double and twin cabins are distinctly Latin American in look but resolutely luxurious in feel. They are very welcoming and light, decked out in beige and dove greys, with old maps, a cushioned wall and a large window for watching the scenery roll past.

Food & Drink

There are two dining cars, which serve fresh, colourful and seasonal menus carefully designed by the chefs at Belmond Hotel Monasterio.

Facilities

In between meals, you can gather in the lounge car and listen to the baby grand piano as you sip on a chilled cocktail, or head to the observation car to breathe in the Andean air from the open deck.

Activities aboard the Belmond Andean Explorer

During your trip, you’ll travel through the La Raya mountain range, peaking at an altitude of 14,000ft, where you can see the landscape change to a more rugged and mountainous Andean scenery. Along the way you can spot alpacas and llamas between the towering snow-capped peaks from your window and watch the local musicians perform as you have a drink with a superb view.
