Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Mashpi Lodge has a stunning wilderness setting in the heart of the Mindo cloud forest.

Rooms at Mashpi Lodge

There are 23 luxurious and stylish rooms and suites, with striking minimalist decor mixing rich earth tones with bright contemporary colours, along with king-sized beds and soothing LED lighting.

You are fully immersed in the surroundings - the floor-to-ceiling glass walls make you feel like you’re sleeping amongst the trees, and you can wake up to stunning views of the surrounding forest, just metres away (even the Philippe Starck-designed bathrooms have a view!).

Food & Drink

Start the day with fresh bread, fruit, homemade honey and exotic fruit juice. The impressive two-storey dining room offers more stunning views as well as gourmet seasonal fare which combines Ecuadorian cuisine with the flavours of the surrounding rainforest, such as herbs, spices and tropical fruits like naranjilla and papaya, and classic dishes such as ceviche.

Enjoy homemade ice-cream with flavours such as palm heart and sweet banana, as well as organic Ecuadorian chocolate (don’t miss a chocolate tasting). The wine list includes some fantastic Chilean and Argentinean wines.

Facilities

Take a dip in the Jacuzzi, which is open to the breezes and sounds of the forest, and is a perfect way to unwind after the day's adventures. Give the muscles further rejuvenation with unique spa treatments that have been developed using local ingredients such as earth, stones, herbs and leaves which are thought to have medicinal properties.

Activities at Mashpi Lodge

The activities revolve around the pristine and untouched environment, from birdwatching to wildlife-spotting - this area is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, including pumas, monkeys, tree frogs and around 500 species of tropical birds.

Take in the views from up high at the Observation Tower, where you can move through all the levels of the forest, from the forest floor to the highest trees. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, simply relax on the terrace and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest as you're serenaded by birdsong.

If you are travelling with children, there is plenty for them to see and do. Children aged 6 years old and over can enjoy a Mashpi Ranger Adventure with local naturalist guides - a great way to get to know the surrounding tropical forest and find out about its biodiversity and the importance of protecting this unique environment. Hands-on initiatives include learning how to identify wildlife, insects and leaf patterns, and how to use tree leaves to imitate bird calls, as well as joining biologists in the lab for interactive learning activities. Also on offer are excursions to waterfalls and safe swimming spots, exhilarating night walks to see nocturnal wildlife, visits to the butterfly farm and rides on the Sky Bike high above the rainforest canopy.
