Start your holiday in beautiful Quito, Ecuador’s capital, whose historic squares and churches are surrounded by the towering Andes. Discover the architectural treasures of its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, browse bustling markets and find out more about the city’s Incan heritage. Enjoy a half-day private tour, including the Square of Independence, the cathedral and the San Francisco monastery in the Old Town. You'll also visit the Middle of the World, which is located at 0 degrees latitude - so you can stand right on the Equator, between two hemispheres. Your hotel, La Casona de la Ronda, sits in the heart of Quito, making it ideal for exploring its many landmarks, as well as visiting the bars and restaurants lining the cobblestone streets of La Ronda, right on the doorstep.

Fly to the Galapagos to begin your week-long cruise around the Galapagos Islands, one of the most wildlife-rich and diverse spots on the planet.

Spend your days snorkelling, kayaking and touring in a glass-bottomed boat, and there will also be plenty of opportunities to set foot on land on expert guided excursions inland and around the pristine coastlines and tranquil bays. See land and marine iguanas, red and blue-footed boobies and red-breasted frigate birds, and watch sea lions basking on the beach.

You’ll also sail past Kicker Rock and observe cliffs of cacti and otherworldly volcanic landscapes, and visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Centre and the giant tortoise breeding centre.

Your home for the week is the stylish Santa Cruz II, which has spacious and comfortable cabins with large windows to make the most of the ever-changing views, and a bar and restaurant for sampling local cuisine and wines in-between expeditions. After a day exploring the islands, relax on the sundeck or in the hot tub.

After disembarking your cruise, you will fly back to Ecuador and spend a night at the Wyndham in Guayaquil, which has a thriving arts scene and historic, colourful barrios. Relax in the spa, refresh with a swim in the rooftop pool and enjoy a gourmet dinner in one of the two restaurants.
