Tayka Hotel de Piedra was inspired by its surroundings at San Pedro de Quemes with its traditional thatched roofs and foundations made from local materials like volcanic rock and sand, typical throughout the Andes. It is a cosy retreat on the southern border of the Uyuni Salt Flats, 170km from Calama in Chile.

Solar energy is used to heat the rooms, which wrap around two central courtyards: a cool, welcome respite from the heat of the day. They feature comfortable beds with cosy blankets, wooden floors and en suite bathrooms.
