Sense of place

The hotel sits in the shade of an ancient poplar grove, and on the shores of the brilliant-blue Lake San Martin. It was built in a traditional Patagonian style, and a cosy atmosphere characterises the hotel, with its wood-burning fireplaces perfect for curling up in front of after a day in the great outdoors.

Rooms at Estancia Rio Condor

Estancia Rio Condor’s main building is home to just six comfortable guest rooms, which can sleep up to 14 people. Each room is appointed in a rustic style, with wooden ceilings and floors, wrought iron beds and traditional décor. Away from the main lodge sits Condorito, a small annexe where guests can enjoy staying in a little more privacy while still sharing in the communal meals and activities with other guests. Even more secluded is La Nana, a tiny outpost half a day away on horseback; you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag.

Food & Drink

Food at Rio Condor is hearty, simple and traditional, with a particularly good lines in Argentine classic such as empanadas, asado grilled meats, and rich country stews. Meat is reared locally, and vegetables are grown nearby; the hotel is committed to the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Breakfast takes the form of freshly baked bread, homemade jam, and local fruits and sheep’s cheese. Picnics and packed lunches will happily be arranged for you to take on your excursions.
