Cavallo Point is based in the old US Army base of Fort Baker, on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge in quirky San Francisco. Dating from 1901, the quaint white buildings with their red-tiled roofs have been transformed into stylish accommodation while retaining their historic character. Set on a green expanse, they offer beautiful views over the bridge, the bay and the hills. The lodge also has a fantastic restaurant and a cocktail bar.

Cavallo Point is in pretty Sausalito, on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Rooms at Cavallo Point

There is a choice of staying in the historic buildings or the contemporary buildings. The historic rooms are former residences of US Army officers and have beautiful San Francisco skyline views, and the two-bedroom suites, which offer additional space including sitting areas, are great for families. The contemporary rooms and suites, set on the hillside, have views across the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay. 

Most rooms come with fireplaces, and they also have floor-to-ceiling windows, large LCD TVs and mini-fridges. Some have patios or decks to relax on.

Food & Drink

The acclaimed Murray Circle restaurant offers gourmet Californian cuisine which makes the most of fresh, local and seasonal produce, alongside irresistible sweet treats from the pastry chef. Enjoy it all either inside in the classic dining room or outside on the porch, looking out over San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Accompany your meal with a glass of wine from the impressive wine cellar, which features local artisan wines as well as international favourites. If you're inspired by the food, sign up for a class at the cooking school. 

Meanwhile, at the Farley Bar, you can enjoy a cocktail or two by the fire in one of the big leather chairs, and don't miss wine hour between 4 and 6pm. You can also enjoy in-room personalised cocktails, prepared by your bartender.

Unwind with a yoga lesson, take yourself off to the spa for a signature massage or facial, have a dip in the outdoor heated meditation pool, surrounded by pine trees, and visit the Tea Bar for healthy teas and tonics featuring ingredients such as Mayan cacao.
