Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Kamalame Cay sits on pristine sands on a 96-acre private island off the Andros Great Barrier Reef, and is a beautiful setting for an idyllic beach holiday. Only accessible by private ferry, helicopter or seaplane, enjoy a truly unplugged experience on a remote Bahamian island.

Rooms at Kamalame Cay

This chic Caribbean escape has luxurious bougainvillea-draped cottages, bungalows and Balinese-style beach houses, surrounded by lush jungle and coconut palms. The spacious and chic white interiors, offset with dark wood furnishings, open up to ocean views and cooling sea breezes.

The intimate cottage suites are built from native stone, while the bungalows are elevated along the beach for the best views at sunrise and sunset, and there are also lovely and spacious beachfront villas with two to four bedrooms. With no televisions, telephones or internet connection in the rooms, you can truly switch off and relax.

Food & Drink

Most meals take place in the plantation-style Great House. However, you can also enjoy lunch on a deserted isle, dine a deux on the beach or grab a quick bite in between dips in the pool at the Tiki Bar & Beach Grill. Every morning, a picnic basket is hand-delivered to your front porch containing fresh fruits, pastries, jams and juices.

With an emphasis on fresh fish and seafood and locally-sourced and in-season tropical fruit and produce, the restaurant at the Great House is among the finest in the Bahamas, where you can expect delicious dishes of pan-seared hog snapper with avocado salad and slow-roasted pork belly with coconut rice and gratin potato cake.

Facilities

The gorgeous overwater spa focuses on bespoke treatments using marine-based ingredients, while there's a beautiful freshwater pool backing onto the beach, where you can relax on a poolside lounger surrounded by palm trees.

Activities at Kamalame Cay

Just a mile from Kamalame’s shores, an underwater adventure awaits along the world’s third longest barrier reef, and the hotel has its own PADI dive centre. Alternatively, make use of the free windsurfers, snorkelling gear and bicycles, or take a kayak and paddle through the inland creeks. Meanwhile, the undisturbed shallow waters provide excellent fishing conditions and offer some of the best bone fishing in the world.
