Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The hotel is set in vibrant gardens thick with palm trees and shrubs, with hundreds of acres of olive groves and 900 varieties of desert plants. The gardens have won numerous awards and been featured in international travel media.

Rooms at Dar al Hossoun

Rooms and suites at Dar al Hossoun have a traditional aesthetic, built with rammed earth and local wood and decorated with Moroccan fabrics and earthenware. Niches in the rough-hewn walls are lit atmospherically with lamps, and the ceilings feature exposed woodwork. The vast Atlas Suite is decorated with Berber silverware and overlooks the Atlas Mountains.

Food & Drink

The food at Dar al Hossoun is wide-ranging and spans Moroccan and international styles, with dishes ranging from the classic tagine and couscous variations to Italian ravioli and Cretan dakos. As ever, the emphasis is on sustainability and natural produce, so the menu changes constantly according the seasonality and availability of ingredients. Special dietary requirements are happily catered for.

Facilities

The hotel’s garden is a beautiful place for a stroll or just to sit and take in the atmosphere, but there’s also a lovely outdoor pool and another, smaller one which is heated in winter. Around the pools a beautiful spa has been built in the style of a traditional hammam, where a range of massage and wellness treatments are on offer.

Activities at Dar al Hossoun

The ancient town of Taroudant lies just a five-minute drive away, a Berber market town which is a great place to get a feel for everyday Moroccan life, particularly in its bustling bazaar, which has remained largely unchanged for centuries. Taroudant sits on an ancient caravan trading route and remains famous for its exotic goods including jewellery and carpets. A range of guided excursions depart from the hotel, including visits to Taroudant, the Tiout palm grove, and the beautiful Citrons Valley in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas.
