L'Ma Lodge

Location: Desert Morocco | Morocco

First appearances are certainly deceiving at the L’Ma Lodge. Having driven down a rural dirt track, you’ll arrive at a large, fortifying mud wall that doesn’t offer much character; however, walk through the entrance to the compound and you’ll soon discover that you’ve found your very own slice of Eden. A romantic guest house located in the palm groves of Skoura, L’Ma Lodge is a traditional built adobe house that overflows with serenity and charm – from the billowing walls of the tented spa to the rug-strewn gardens filled with water fountains and tweeting birds.
Perfect forA mid-journey break – families and couples can spend a night or two catching their breath before heading into the desert or into the throngs of Marrakech’s bustling streets.

Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Near Ouarzazate, Morocco – located in one of the few groves in the country still inhabited but renowned for its beauty and traditional kasbahs.

Rooms at L'Ma Lodge

There are just a handful of bright bedrooms and suites, which are located 100 metres from the main house in the riad. These rooms all feature tadelakt bathrooms, views over the beautiful gardens, walk-in showers and air conditioning. They are individual decorated with Moroccan touches and all have living areas and wardrobes.

If you are travelling as a family, go for one of the suites which can accommodate up to 5 people.

Food & drink

At breakfast, you’ll have a choice of 15 types of homemade jams to spread on the freshly made crepes, pancakes, breads and pastries, as well as a selection of seasonal fruit taken from the garden and yoghurts and cereals.

For lunch and dinner, you’ll dine on seasonal Moroccan and Mediterranean fare, such as a tagine fusion with delicious vegetables and salad grown within the property. All the ingredients are either bought from a local supplier at the local souk or are collected from the harvest of the property - even the olive oil, dates and pomegranates are taken from the garden.

Facilities

Relax in the huge garden, which offers plenty of shady spots thanks to its hundreds of palm and fruit trees – we especially love the olive tree grove dotted with bold Berber rugs and colourful pillows that is just ideal for lazy afternoons. There’s also a sheltered free form swimming pool, a spa tent and a scenic rooftop where you can unwind for a couple of hours.

If you are looking for something to keep you entertained, the compound has a boules ground, plenty of board games, books for reading and a few musical instruments (piano and guitar).

Activities at L'Ma Lodge

If you can tear yourself away from L’Ma Lodge’s relaxing pool and gardens, we recommend taking the day to visit the Valley of the Roses or Draa Valley. If you’d prefer to keep active, there is an equestrian centre nearby for both novice and expert and the surrounding palm groves can be explored on a nature walk or on a bike.

For the more creatively inclined, traditional Moroccan cooking classes can be organised, as well as Arabic lessons or a henna session.
