Sense of Place
Sitting on a pristine stretch of Baja California’s Pacific coastline, but within easy reach of the twin cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, Grand Velas Los Cabos promises wild coastal beauty and urban sophistication in equal measure.
Rooms at Grand Velas Los Cabos
The suites have a stylish, mid-century modern feel, with retro furnishings and light fittings which evoke the golden age of Mexico’s Pacific Coast in the 1950s and ‘60s, when the likes of Sinatra and Liz Taylor would holiday in resorts like Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta.
Some suites have Jacuzzis, terraces, and private plunge pools overlooking the ocean, and the Family Suites have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with plenty of space for the whole family, while the Wellness Suites even feature exercise machines and massage tables.
Food & Drink
The seven gourmet restaurants cover a wide range of global cuisines. Velas 10 serves superb surf and turf dishes, with exquisite seafood and juicy steaks, while Frida, named after artist Frida Kahlo, offers modern gourmet takes on classic Mexican dishes. There’s top-class French food on offer at Piaf, and ceviche at the poolside Cabrilla restaurant, while fans of authentic, hearty Italian cuisine should head to the stylish Lucca, and for cuisine from a Michelin-starred chef, indulge in the 10-course tasting menu at Cocina de Autor.
The selection of wines on offer is inspired by the hotel’s proximity to Mexico’s wine region, while there is also a mezcal and tequila tasting room.
The impressive 35,000-square-foot spa is geared towards ultimate relaxation, with beautifully designed treatment rooms and a wide menu of tempting wellness therapies. Massages use blue agave, the iconic Mexican plant used to make tequila, while the signature treatment is a multi-step hydrotherapy programme using hot and cold pools, aromatherapy, and steam and ice rooms.
Activities at Grand Velas Los Cabos
The hotel’s beachfront location is perfect for doing nothing more than lounging on the sand or relaxing by the three-level oceanfront infinity pool with a cocktail from the swim-up bar. However, if you fancy being more active, there are numerous ways to head out on the water, from snorkelling and paddle boarding to diving amongst the coral reefs and going whale watching.
Back on dry land, explore the countryside on an ATV off-road trip, or get another perspective on the area’s beautiful coastline with a thrilling flight in an ultralight hang glider. In the evening, enjoy movies on the beach, under the stars.
There are clubs for children and teenagers, including pools, gaming pods, bars serving non-alcoholic drinks and much, much more.
