El Silencio Lodge & Spa

El Silencio Lodge & Spa is surrounded by the natural wonders of Costa Rica's Central Valley.

Designed to blend in with the surroundings, El Silencio’s one and two-bedroom suites and two-bedroom villas are raised on pillars, with bamboo ceiling tiles, wood features, energy-efficient lighting and gas fireplaces. Each suite has a viewing deck with a Jacuzzi and rocking chairs and spectacular mountain, forest or river views. The villas, sleeping up to six people, are ideal for families, friends and groups.

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors let the light flood into your room, and day beds provide the perfect spot for chilling out with your book during the day.

The main building overlooks an incredible leafy canyon, which you can view from the deck. Signature dishes you can enjoy at the Las Ventanas restaurant include regional fish, poultry and vegetarian entrées, and the hotel’s own garden provides most of the organic herbs and vegetables.

The spa features an al fresco yoga deck and a Conical Room, designed to channel the Costa Rican forest’s life energy, and you can unwind with a massage or body wrap. El Silencio is all about relaxation and escapism, so take advantage of this rare pocket of peace and quiet in the Costa Rican cloud forest.

However, if you can bear to drag yourself away, you are near the Poas Volcano and not far from the smoking Arenal Volcano, and a trip around these dramatic peaks is one of the main activities at El Silencio.

You can also visit the hot springs, go horse riding or mountain biking, ride the rapids down the river, zipline through the canopy or take part in a tree-planting ceremony.
