Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Hotel Husafell is nestled in the lush countryside of Husafell in western Iceland.

Rooms at Hotel Husafell

The rooms at Hotel Husafell are modern in design and offer wonderful views over the distinctive Icelandic countryside, which you can enjoy from the terrace in some of the rooms. There is also a spacious villa accommodating up to five people. They are beautifully decorated with paintings from Husafell's own world-renowned artist, Pall Gudmundsson, who is famous for the human faces he sculpts from the rock he finds around Husafell and is also a musician – he invented an instrument using local rock and has performed with Icelandic legends Sigur Ros.

Food & Drink

Husafell’s menu, featuring takes on traditional Nordic dishes influenced by modern international cuisine, owes its flavour and richness to the high quality of the locally-grown produce. Wild game, freshly-caught shellfish, goose and lamb are among the specialities on offer in a stylish restaurant which has stunning views of the landscape outside.

Facilities

With a golf course and geothermal hot tubs and pools which draw on the area’s volcanic activity, this hotel offers a range of opportunities for relaxation in the lush surroundings of Husafell.

Activities at Hotel Husafell

Husafell is considered the best place in the world to view the Northern Lights, which in itself is enough of a draw for many people – but this hotel has much more to offer besides. Go hiking, biking or horse riding along rugged and scenic trails in the Husafell Nature Reserve (you can borrow a mountain bike from the hotel) or head out on the water in a canoe.

In an area of Iceland known for its comparatively mild weather, Husafell’s landscape is greener and more verdant than the stereotypical image of Iceland, but is still surrounded by magnificent glaciers, which can be explored with hikes and jeep tours from the hotel. A visit to the ice cave inside Langjokull, Europe’s second largest glacier (its name translates as 'long glacier'), is an unforgettable experience, while the Hallmundarhraun lava field is also home to numerous volcanic caves. Witness the Hraunfoss waterfall cascading from the edge of a lava field into a cool blue glacial pool.
