Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Hotel Budir sits on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in west Iceland, surrounded by rugged, beautiful landscapes.

Rooms at Hotel Budir

Hotel Budir’s rooms and suites are comfortable and traditionally decorated, exemplifying the stillness of their natural surroundings and exuding the same spirit of old-world elegance in which they were originally designed. They are simply and stylishly furnished, and the art on display pays tribute to its colourful history.

Food & drink

Hailed as “the Mecca of Icelandic cuisine” by one of the country’s top food experts, Hotel Budir began life as a restaurant and remains renowned for its food. Unique, fresh and local, gourmet fish and lamb dishes dominate the menu here, and the exquisite food is served in a stunning setting overlooking extraordinary scenery including the Snæfellsjökull glacier.

Facilities

The cosy lounge area and bar is a great place to put your feet up after a day outdoors. During the aurora borealis season, a wake-up call is provided if the Northern Lights make an appearance, so you can be sure you won't miss the show.

Activities at Hotel Budir

Adventure sea tours will see you taste fresh scallops straight from the sea, or why not enjoy the diverse birdlife in Breidafjordur, and visit the serene island of Flatey. Snowmobile trips will allow you to explore Snaefellsjokull glacier, while the Snaefellsnes Peninsula is renowned for its fishing.

Visits to the Deildartunguhver hot spring – the most powerful of its kind in Europe – can also be arranged, while ‘flightseeing’ helicopter tours can allow you to experience the landscape from another perspective.
