Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Rosewood is situated deep in the dense forest of Luang Prabang, with a spectacular waterfall and river below. With the city only a 10-minute drive from the hotel, it’s ideally situated for daily activities and excursions whilst also offering an exclusive, serene experience hidden in the lush jungle.

Rooms at Rosewood Luang Prabang

There are just 23 exclusive and uniquely designed rooms, suites, villas and luxury hilltop tents here, their elegant décor evoking the style and charm of colonial France alongside a twist of Lao tradition in local materials and artworks, alongside sublime views.

The Riverside Rooms have balconies overlooking the mountains, while the Riverside Suites offer more space, with large living rooms and verandas with daybeds. The Riverside Villas have verandas with dining tables and daybeds where you can listen to the sounds of the flowing river.

The Waterfall Pool Villas are inspired by the waterfall that tumbles down the surrounding mountains, and have impressive indoor and outdoor spaces, with antique furnishings, an outdoor bar and a private pool. The vibrant patterns and textiles of the spacious Hilltop Tents are inspired by local hill tribes, and they come with private dining areas and wraparound decks, as well as panoramic mountain views.

Food & Drink

Embracing local ingredients and produce, some harvested from the resort’s own organic gardens, the Rosewood’s gourmet menus change daily, based on the chef’s findings at markets and farms. The Great House offers regional Lao specialities which you can enjoy on the terrace, while both local and western favourites are available poolside. If you’re feeling inspired, indulge in a cooking class and learn how to make traditional dishes.

At the Elephant Bridge Bar, enjoy deliciously unique cocktails, created with herbs and spices from the gardens.

Facilities

The spa, which has tents dotted along the hillside, is a serene haven, with inspiring mountain views and the flowing river below. Embracing the signature concept of the hotel, all the products used are natural and sustainable whilst being thoughtfully sourced, and treatments draw on ancient local traditions.

There is also an oval-shaped pool next to a natural waterfall, with poolside sunbeds and cabanas where you can relax with a refreshing drink.

Activities at Rosewood Luang Prabang

Activities around Luang Prabang range from visiting the temples, markets and museums to exploring the Pak Ou Caves, the waterfalls and the Mekong River, including walking tours, boat excursions and exclusive river cruises. Enjoy one of Rosewood’s curated activities, from guided mountain treks to traditional weaving and pottery experiences in local villages.

There are also plenty of local cafes and restaurants to discover. If you find yourself craving a taste of the untraditional, why not try the not-so-secret ‘Secret Pizza’ restaurant hidden at the end of a quiet road in the south of the city? Known as possibly the best pizza in Laos, it was started by a traditional Italian expat in his open-air back garden.

For younger guests, there is a Rose Buds programme, with a range of activities to keep them entertained.
