Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Plataran Menjangan is nestled amidst the beautiful landscapes of West Bali National Park - on one side are pristine beaches and mangroves, while on the other the hotel’s villas begin to disappear away into dense jungle.

Rooms at Plataran Menjangan

The accommodation is spread across luxurious one and two-bedroom villas in the thick forest and along the coast. The Forest Villas, surrounded by ancient trees, feel like their own little world and are great for immersing yourself in nature - even the bathrooms are open-air, so you can soak in your stone tub to the tune of the birds singing. The Ocean Villas look out over the sea, while the Ocean Mangrove Villas overlook the mangroves.

The interiors combine traditional Balinese design with a colonial touch: wooden-beamed ceilings, intricately carved doors and traditional artefacts sit alongside rich dark wood desks and European-style beds and chairs.

Food & drink

The hotel’s main restaurant is the Octagon Ocean Club, a poolside venue where you’ll find pan-Asian and international dishes which make the most of the fresh bounty of the ocean. The building’s octagonal, open-faced design ensures panoramic views over West Bali National Park and the sea. The Wantilan Open Kitchen, meanwhile, is the place to go to sample local Balinese delicacies: look out for the ubiquitous nasi goreng and the local favourite, roasted suckling pig.

Dinner can also be enjoyed at Wantilan Deck, a lovely platform in the treetops overlooking Menjangan Island, which is also a great spot to sit, read and relax throughout the day.

Facilities

At the Padma Spa, overlooking the ocean and surrounded by dense mangroves, a range of wellness treatments will help you unwind and recharge. These include exfoliation treatments using green tea and avocado, seaweed massages, and Chinese reflexology, to name just a few. The outdoor pool, by the Octagon Ocean Club, has an infinity edge which melts into the vast Bali Sea.

Activities at Plataran Menjangan

The pristine expanse of West Bali National Park is a wildlife-rich area of dense forests, coastal mangroves and beautiful beaches which make up a playground for lovers of the great outdoors. Hiking or biking the trails which criss-cross the park is a great way to explore and get to know the area’s rich wildlife and birdlife, such as white Bali starlings, Javan macaques, Indian muntjacs and flying foxes. Or swop two legs for four and discover the park on horseback.

The other main way to explore is from the water, and snorkelling, paddle-boarding and boogie-boarding equipment is available from the hotel’s Plataran Water World, while divers will love diving among the coral reefs. Guided cruises also regularly depart from the jetty, offering a relaxed way to explore the beautiful coastline, and you can enjoy private cruises too.
