When to go to Burma

Temperatures throughout the country depend greatly on altitude and therefore the hill stations, lakes and Himalayan foothills are far cooler than southern lowlands and coastal regions.

The best time to visit Burma is between November and February when it rains least and heat is less intense. From March to May, the temperature may rise to 40c in and around Yangon, while areas around Bagan and Mandalay could be hotter. As June approaches, the weather changes and the south-west monsoon starts to blow, lasting until October when the roads in most of the country can become impassable.
