In the knowThe lodge takes its name from legendary explorer Henry Morton Stanley, who uttered the famous phrase ‘Dr. Livingstone, I presume?’ on discovering his lost contemporary David Livingstone, who gave his name to the local town.

Stanley Safari Lodge occupies a spectacular position on a hill overlooking Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, with views over the Zambezi River, and, in the distance, the spray of the mighty Victoria Falls.

Rooms at Stanley Safari Lodge

The lodge’s ten chalets, including honeymoon suites and family suites, are built from local teak and stone and have a rustic feel, with thatched roofs, wooden beams and rugged exposed stonework. The rooms are arranged around plush double beds, draped in mosquito nets, and come with ensuite bathrooms with baths and showers, while the decks, terraces and comfortable sofas provide ample space to relax as you take in the view of the Zambezi Valley.

Food & drink

Mealtimes are a flexible affair at Stanley Safari Lodge, and are scheduled to fit around your daily activities. There’s a wide range of options at breakfast, with everything you need to energise you for the day’s adventures - whether that’s a full English or something lighter, like fresh fruit and pastries.

Lunch will often be a picnic packed for you in the morning, to be enjoyed while you’re out on your excursions, before you reconvene at the camp for dinner with your fellow guests, where you’ll share stories and enjoy hearty dishes such as locally-reared grilled meat and roasted vegetables.

Activities at Stanley Safari Lodge

As well as going on game drives in open-top vehicles to meet the local wildlife, one of the world’s great natural wonders and biggest waterfalls, the mighty Victoria Falls are just 3km away. Cruises down the Zambezi River and trips to see the falls are a must during your time here, with canoeing and whitewater rafting also on offer. If you’re feeling really adventurous, get the adrenaline pumping by bungee jumping, gorge swinging or microlighting.

For something less hair-raising, visit Mukuni Village, which was founded in the 13^th century, to learn about the Leya people and their culture, where you can browse markets selling wood carvings, jewellery and baskets, or enjoy a lavish four-course dinner aboard the Mulobezi steam train.
