Uganda’s lush tropical highlands are best visited during the dry season, which is between June and August. As well as being the best time to trek for gorillas and chimpanzees, the dry conditions during these months also provide ideal big game viewing in the national parks – as less greenery means there are fewer places for animals to hide, and so they tend to congregate around waterholes. Due to permits limiting numbers of visitors, Uganda remains blissfully quiet even during this time.
For an alternative experience, the seasons around the summer (March to May and September to November) are also good times to visit Uganda. During these times the parks will be even quieter and new-born animals can be spotted.
