The spacious chalets and cabanas have all been furnished to complement the natural setting, featuring thatched roofs and expansive open wooden balconies overlooking the pristine landscapes and the beautiful lake. Wake up to the sound of giant kingfishers.

Relax in the comfort of your private lounge or outside sitting area and enjoy views of the lodge's grounds and the lake. All rooms have private bathrooms with expansive showers, and some chalets have deep-soaking baths that you can sink into after a day in the wilderness.

Food & Drink

A fulfilling breakfast is the perfect way to start a day of exploration and is served in the restaurant. Tea and coffee – locally sourced - is available to guests in the lounge area, with lunch and dinner organised around guests’ schedules, ensuring you get the most out of your day.

Facilities

Take a break from exploring and have a dip in the outdoor swimming pool while enjoying the panoramic views, the perfect reprieve to the hot African sun. Relax after a long day at the intimate bar and open lounge area or swap stories around the warming outside boma campfire while taking in the expansive environment around you.

Activities at Crater Safari Lodge

The highlight of any stay is the famed chimp trekking safaris. You'll be driven to the nearby Kibale National Park, a protected area featuring a lush, dense and evergreen rainforest which is home to the highest concentration of primates in Africa. In this spectacular setting, there is a total of 13 species of primates to spot during your trek, while you learn about these magnificent creatures.

There are plenty more wildlife and cultural activities to keep you busy during your stay at the lodge. Enjoy a leisurely hike around the crater or head to the nearby 'Top of the World' viewpoint where the sights are nothing short of exceptional. Take a guided bird walk to the neighbouring Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which has an abundance of birdlife and primates, or hire a fishing rod or canoe and enjoy a peaceful afternoon by the lake. A little further afield are several tea and coffee plantations, for something a little different to explore.
