Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Namiri Plains sits alongside the Ngare Nanyuki River, in an area of the eastern Serengeti which is teeming with wildlife - including wildebeest which migrate in their millions annually, as well as predators like cheetahs, lions and leopards. There are many natural water sources around the camp, which are a favourite gathering place for big cats. You may see a lion and a leopard lounging and enjoying the sun or a cheetah roaming around.

Rooms at Namiri Plains

There are 10 tented standalone suites, including one family tent. They have full-length viewing decks, offering you a 360-degree view of the plains. The rooms are constructed from the natural calcrete (sedimentary rock) of the area and feature a comfortable king-sized bed with black and white linens. The spacious bathrooms include an indoor/outdoor shower and a generous bathtub made entirely of resin, which sits on the deck so you can admire the views while bathing.

Food & Drink

All meals are expertly prepared by the camp’s chefs, offering you a tempting buffet-styled breakfast and a fresh lunch including a main course paired with salads and vegetables. To make the most of your time in the Serengeti, ask for a picnic lunch basket or a bush lunch to enjoy on safari, and tuck into a feast in the wilderness. In the evenings you will be served a delicious three-course meal after your day’s adventures.

Facilities

Have a dip in the pool while watching the wildlife around you, or enjoy the sun on the deck or the pergola, which offers perfect views of the riverbed - take it all in with a refreshing drink from the mobile bar. For some relaxation and rejuvenation, head to the spa for traditional treatments based on natural local healing methods - the ideal way to unwind after a day on safari.

Visit the information centre and the library, where you can learn about the area and find informative books, maps and artefacts.

Activities at Namiri Plains

Without big crowds getting in the way, game viewing on the Namiri Plains with expert guides has an exclusive feel to it. You'll be treated to two daily game drives in specialised vehicles, so that you can see the Big Five and more up close, with plenty of opportunities to take amazing photographs of them. Explore the sights and sounds of the grasslands on a guided walking safari, and team up with cheetah researchers to learn more about these endangered big cats. To see the Great Migration, one of nature's biggest spectacles, visit between November and June.

How about seeing the plains from the air? Have a once-in-a-lifetime experience flying above the Serengeti in a hot-air balloon for unique views.
