The Retreat

The Retreat sits on the banks of the Ruaha river in the heart of this huge reserve, in the south west of Tanzania.

Accommodation is split into three units all offering luxury and privacy with their own viewing decks and antique copper bathtubs. Settled on a hill, six Eagle Suites pamper you with panoramic views over the Selous and the mighty Ruaha River. The River Suites, all equipped with a private plunge pool, are perfect for couples looking for privacy and togetherness or for families looking for a spacious suite accommodating all while enjoying the river’s wildlife from their veranda. For an extra amount of exclusivity the Hippo Point, with its two River Suites plus private infinity pool, bar and chef, gives a maximum of luxury, comfort, privacy and the most intimate Safari Experience there is.

Dining at The Retreat is always varied and imaginative. Everything has had a great deal of attention paid to it, down to the ornate glassware the meals are served in. Even though you are in such a remote part of Tanzania the kitchen team strive to provide you with meals made of fresh ingredients. Dine indoor and outdoor at the fort and for a special experience you will be treated to a bush dinner.
