Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Plettenberg is just a short 5 to 10-minute walk to the sea at Plettenberg Bay, on the famous Garden Route.

Rooms at The Plettenberg

The Plettenberg has luxurious rooms and suites, all with breathtaking vistas. Individually decorated in classical elegance, with fresh whites and pastels, each room is unique but they all feature touches such as underfloor heating, air conditioning, cosy slippers, tea and coffee delivered in the morning, a welcome bottle of wine and complimentary local newspapers.

You won’t need much persuasion to opt for a sea-view room, with step-out balconies and the chance to see whales and dolphins passing by. For families with children, or anyone after even more space and luxury, the Plettenberg also has gorgeous villas, with private sundecks with private pools and glorious mountain views.

Food & Drink

With unrivalled views over Formosa Bay, SeaFood at The Plettenberg offers inspiring South African cuisine, with sophisticated evening dining, lazy poolside lunches and delicious breakfasts. Sample the region’s fine wines at the Sandbar, which is chic and modern, laid-back yet glamorous.

Facilities

The two infinity pools merge with the ocean beyond, while the spa offers an extensive range of treatments (at an additional charge), and is perfect for some pampering after a day of exploring.

Activities at The Plettenberg

The Plettenberg is within walking distance of Central Beach and a variety of shops and local restaurants. It is a short drive to many of the Garden Route’s excellent outdoor activities, from elephant interactions to treetop canopy tours and nature reserves.

The Garden Route is home to one of the world's highest bungee-jumping sites in the world, but if you don’t fancy plunging off the famous Bloukrans Bridge, there are plenty of relaxed activities too! Mornings are perfect for bracing walks on the beach – perhaps spotting whales and dolphins on the way – before horse riding in the afternoon.
