There’s a mess tent with a few books to snuggle up with on a lazy afternoon, and a simple dining tent for meals. From our own experience, we can testify that food is definitely a highlight here-one of the most delicious lunches we’ve eaten on safari in a long time. Salads are delightfully fresh, the meat is mouthwatering, and much of it is obtained locally. During meals Alex and Diana are on hand, entertaining guests with an irresistible mine of information and stories about their lives in Africa.

Staying at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is about so much more than game viewing (though there’s plenty of that around). It’s an insight into living (and playing) in the bush, and a behind-the-scenes look at conservation. There are game drives and bush walks, but also visits to the chimpanzee sanctuary, tracking radio collared lions, and talks by the researchers on the conservancy. You’ll also be able to see how conservation fits in with the community, from grazing cattle alongside wild animals to visits to the local villages.
