Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Zarafa Camp sits on the private 130,000-hectare Selinda Reserve, surrounded by floodplains and overlooking the beautiful Zibadianja Lagoon. The reserve links the Okavango Delta with Chobe National Park.

Botswana is incredibly flat, which makes the Selinda Spillway behave in peculiar ways: at certain times of the year it flows in both directions, and after exceptional rainfall it can merge with the Kwando and Linyanti rivers.

Rooms at Zarafa Camp

So that the guides can give you a totally personalised and bespoke experience, there are just four tents at Zarafa Camp, housing a maximum of eight guests at a time. Open to the floodplains and perched on raised decking, the luxury tents have magnificent views over the lagoon, with full-length verandas beneath the shade of trees.

They have wonderfully luxurious touches, including a bathroom with a regal copper clawfoot bath and a private plunge pool for cooling off in the afternoons.

Food & Drink

Whether you’re having breakfast on the deck, or a lantern-lit dinner in the main tent, the views out over the floodplains will be a total feast for the eyes.

Facilities

Beneath a canopy of ebony trees, there is a spacious lounge, a library and a boutique. as well as the dining area. There's also an outdoor gym if you fancy a workout, or if you prefer to take it easy, indulge in an in-room massage.

Activities at Zarafa Camp

Zarafa offers game drives and bush walks on this predator-rich reserve, following in the footsteps of National Geographic, who have worked closely with the camp for years and provide top-quality camera equipment for guests. The encounters between large game and prey are a photographer's dream (the fight between lions and hippos are particularly spectacular to watch), as are the huge herds of elephants lumbering across the floodplains.

You may also see cheetahs, zebras and giraffes as well as African wild dogs and a colony of African skimmer birds.
