Hotel Overview

Sense of place

explora Valle Sagrado is in one of the Sacred Valley’s most remote areas, nestled in corn plantations near the village of Urquillos. It has been elegantly designed to reflect its surroundings, and it also supports local communities, with its ethos of sustainability and ethical tourism.

Rooms at explora Valle Sagrado

There are 50 comfortable and spacious rooms and suites, with wood features, warm rugs on the beds and armchairs to cosy up in. The panoramic windows make the most of the views over the mountains and plantations, and some rooms have balconies or patios overlooking the scenery.

In keeping with the hotel’s ethos, the focus is on nature and simplicity, and there is no Wi-Fi, no TVs and no mini-bars – this is a place where you can truly switch off from daily life.

Food & Drink

Enjoy authentic Peruvian cuisine, prepared with fresh local ingredients, and choose from a premium wine list. There are quinchos (traditional barbecues) once or twice a week in high season.

Facilities

On your return from a day's adventures, visit the beautiful spa in Pumacahua House, a 17th-century colonial house, where you can enjoy a swim, a massage or a relaxing session in the sauna.

The shop sells everything you need for local expeditions, as well as local books and arts and crafts.

Activities at explora Valle Sagrado

Visit colourful local markets and villages, walk around ancient Inca monuments and colonial churches, and explore the vast and beautiful natural playground on your doorstep. Hike, bike or horse ride along mountain trails and beside the Urubamba River, and take advantage of the hotel’s activity programmes – these are run by expert guides and give you a unique insight into the rich Inca history and natural wonders of the Sacred Valley.
